]]> The NYS Tractor Pullers Association will return to the Boonville Fair on Friday, July 27th at 7:00 pm at the Grandstand.  Grandstand admission is $12 for adults 13 & Over and 12 & under $6.

What started out many years ago with farmers bringing their favorite tractors out of the fields to the local fair and hopefully taking home bragging rights by pulling the heaviest stone boat the furthest has progressed into the HEAVIEST MOTOR SPORT IN THE WORLD!

This years Fair will feature three different classes, Super Stocks, Two Wheel Drive and Modified.

Today’s farm tractors carry 1-2-3 even 4 turbochargers while burning diesel fuel in the smoker class or run alcohol in what were originally gas motors. These are called Super Stocks.

Truck enthusiasts find the Two Wheel Drive competitors using blower enhanced Chevy’s, Hemi’s, custom built Keith Blacks, Rodacks, Sassy’s and more to propel a 6200 pound truck body down the track.

Multi engine Modified’s combine up to three blown motors to meet the challenge in connecting them together and make in excess of 3000 horsepower. The mounting of motors in various configurations; sideways, in line and crank to crank make the competition even tougher.Facebook

]]> The Boonville-Oneida County Fair will end its week of events and festivities with double the excitement and fun, there will be two derbies on Sunday, July 27th at 1:00pm and 6:00pm.

The afternoon show will start at 1:00pm in front of the grandstand adults 13 and over is $8.00, 12 and under $4.00.  The evening show will start at 6:00pm at the grandstand with adults 13 and over $10.00 and 12 and under $5.00.  New this year, you can purchase a ticket for both shows.  Adults 13 & over is $16 and 12 & under $8

]]> The Boonville Fair will be hosting a Community Health and Service Day on Tuesday July 24th beginning at 11am on the Fair Grounds.  The Health Fair is sponsored by the Oneida County Health Department.

The Oneida County Health Department is offering a variety of health and safety information to county residents this year at the annual Community Health Day.  Health Department programs including the Women, Infants, & Children’s (WIC) Program, Community Wellness, Lead Poisoning Prevention, Early Intervention, Health Education, and Environmental Health.  Health Department representatives will be available to offer information and answer questions from the community.

]]> Every year hundreds of kids come to enjoy the Boonville Oneida County Fair.  Some events that the kids can get involved in are bicycle drawings and many special 4-H shows in the exhibit hall throughout the week.  And of course the many rides and food stands.  This year children’s day will be on Tuesday, July 24 and Friday July 27.  On these days there will also be the Wristband Ride Special.  Wristbands will be on sale noon ‘til 4pm and they are good ‘til 6pm.  Also, there will be the bicycle drawings.  The Kiddie Tractor will be held on Tuesday starting at 11:00 am and 2:00pm.

Some of the 4-H programs that kids will enjoy are the 4-H Horse Shows, Beef Shows, Goat Shows, Sheep Shows, Rabbit Shows, and Poultry Shows. Commerford’s Petting Zoo and Pirates of the Colombian Caribbean Aerial High Wire Thrill Show will be our free shows all week.

]]> The New York Sire Stakes will take place on Tuesday July 24th.  Post Time 11:00am at the grandstand.

Horse racing was an important event on the program of the first fair. It was an easy event to stage because of the Driving Association track. Prior to the invention of the pace car, races were paced by a pole horse, the horse closest to the hub rail. When the horses reached the judge’s stand, the judge would shout “go” and the race was on. If a horse broke by this time, the track bell would be rung and the horses would return to the post to start again.

In 2011 Boonville-Oneida county Fair had a record number of horses, 112 with 22 races. This was the best record for the New York State county fair race circuit. So come join us on Tuesday to see if the record will again be broken and feel the thrill of harness racing at the Boonville Fairgrounds.Facebook
